The end of May at Brno University of Technology was marked by ceremonial academic events. On Wednesday, May 28, doctoral graduation ceremonies took place first, followed by habilitation ceremonies, culminating in the presentation of appointment decrees to seven new associate professors. The graduation ceremony was led by members of the university management, including the rector of BUT. | Author: Josef Vyškovský The new associate professors, appointed by BUT Rector based on faculty deans’ proposals, were introduced by faculty leadership. Two women and five men received their appointment decrees. “You are now authorized to perform all duties requiring the title of associate professor. Your primary mission is to be excellent teachers. I wish you many talented students and hope that teaching brings you joy,” said BUT Vice-Rector for Studies Miroslav Doupovec, congratulating all newly appointed academics. The academic ceremonies were held in the university auditorium. | Author: Josef Vyškovský On behalf of the newly appointed associate professors, Eva Vítková spoke: “Technical education is no longer just about mastering calculations and design rules. It is a way of thinking that connects deep expertise with responsibility toward the world around us. And it is the university — especially our Brno University of Technology — that gives us space to grow, create, bring new ideas, and pass them on to future generations,” she said.
She concluded by thanking the university and faculty leadership, family and friends for their support, and all students for the motivation to continue growing.
During the ceremonial academic event, 89 new PhD graduates took the doctoral oath. They completed their studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Fine Arts, and at the research center CEITEC BUT.

He emphasized that doctoral studies open the door to the world of scientific, research, and creative work — a world that demands the ability to seek solutions and go beyond the known. He encouraged the graduates to continue developing their talents.
“We believe that our academic journey has brought us not only diplomas but also deeper understanding and knowledge. It is in this diversity of experience that we see the beauty of science — in constant discovery, exploration, and seeking new paths,” said Petra Kalenská from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on behalf of the new PhD graduates.
